ALEX Mowatt was looking forward to getting to know his new Oxford United teammates today after his deadline day move.
The 22-year-old midfielder completed a season-long loan switch to the U’s late last night from Sky Bet Championship side Barnsley.
Mowatt was introduced to the United squad this morning, before joining in training ahead of tomorrow’s Sky Bet League One clash at Milton Keynes Dons.
“I trained yesterday morning at Barnsley and when it was finished I had a few calls from my agent,” he said.
“He told me the deal was nearly done, so I had to get to Barnsley to sign the papers and then make my way down to Oxford last night.”
Mowatt is reunited with boss Pep Clotet, with whom he worked at Leeds United last season.
“I spoke with Pep and he told me he’d like to get me here,” the central midfielder said.
“We first text (about it) a week ago and then in the last couple of days it all happened.
“I can’t wait to get going.”
