A ‘BRILLIANT’ student has won his battle to remain in Britain indefinitely and take a place at Oxford University.
Brian White, 21, who moved to the UK from Botswana aged 16, had an application to become a British citizen rejected in 2014 and feared his immigration status could cost him a place studying chemistry at Oxford.
His friend Luke Wilcox set up a petition, which was signed by more than 110,000 well-wishers, urging the Home Office to let Mr White stay in the country.
Yesterday, he announced his application had been approved.
Mr White, who lives in Wolverhampton, thanked everyone who had supported him.
