STAFF at McDonald’s in Oxford staged a protest to support colleagues at other restaurants who plan striking over pay.
The American burger chain is McDonald’s faces its first strike since it opened in the UK in 1974.
About 40 staff are due to strike on Monday at two restaurants in Cambridge and Crayford, south-east London, after a ballot in favour of industrial action amid concerns over low wages.
The Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union, one of Britain’s oldest trade unions, said staff were demanding a wage of at least £10 an hour.
Pat Carmody was among union officials addressing the rally on Monday.
McDonald’s has said those taking action represented 0.01 per cent of its UK workforce.
