AN OXFORDSHIRE couple whose holiday was thrown into doubt after Ryanair cancelled their flight have said that they will never use the company again.

Emily and Paul Ness, from Adderbury, were informed their flight to Prague on Saturday was off - one of an extensive list of last minute cancellations by the budget airline who have admitted they ‘messed up’ on planning staff leave.

Up to 50 flights a day are being cancelled over the next six weeks because too many pilots are on holiday during a relatively busy period.

Communications worker Mrs Ness, 40, and husband Paul, 46, were planning the short weekend trip to Prague as a celebration of her new job.

They were offered a chance to rebook but decided to go ahead with another airline because their hotel in the Czech capital was non-refundable.

The flight-chaos has cost them an extra £155 which they hope to be able to claim back.

Mrs Ness said: "If it is an HR issue, you'd think that they would have known about it in advance and if cancellations were a possibility they should have let people know a lot sooner.

“When you think about all the reasons people travel – for work or funerals or special occasions, there's a ripple effect from these things.

"It would have been a shame if we had had to cancel our holiday but I feel more for the other people who really do need to be somewhere this weekend."
