METAL hoardings have gone up outside Oxford Crown Court as restoration work takes place.
The St Aldate’s crown court complex was opened by then Lord Chancellor Lord Hailsham in 1985.
The building opposite St Aldate’s police station retains the facade of the old Morris Motors showrooms, which were built in 1932.
Work is now being carried out to clean the front of the building in preparation for work inside at a later date.
Scaffolding could remain in place for several weeks while the cleaning work is completed.
Staff from Headington-based Ark Scaffolding have been working on the project.
The crown court building also has family court and county court hearings.
No one from HM Courts and Tribunals Service was available for comment.
Oxford Magistrates’ Court is at The Courthouse in nearby Speedwell Street.
