A MAKEOVER has given a snazzy new look to a traditional pub.

The Fox Inn in Boars Hill was relaunched last Thursday with new owners and now has a striking new design blending the traditional and contemporary – as well as a cosy bar area and a restaurant which seats 70.

Regular customers to the pub will recognise many familiar faces behind the bar and front of house. The pub's team is led by new general manager Hannah Strudwick, who has lived in Oxfordshire for 13 years and worked at other local eateries including the Muddy Duck in Hethe, north of Bicester.

Ms Strudwick said: "The Fox Inn looks amazing and we have created a cracking pub which we want to establish at the heart of our local communities."

"The pub also provides the perfect spot for people who want to escape the hustle and bustle of Oxford and Abingdon.

"We can't wait for people to experience it for themselves."

The newly refurbished pub’s head chef is Cliff Burt, who held the same job at the pub 10 years ago and whose CV also includes The Bear Hotel in Woodstock and the luxury Llawnroc Hotel in St Austell in Cornwall.

The pub sits towards the edge of the rural Boars Hill – which is six miles from Oxford and 4.5 miles from Abingdon.

There will be a quiz night every Monday and dogs are welcome in the bar.

The restaurant also offers seasonal menus with changing daily specials of a British-themed steak and ale pie, beer battered haddock and chips, prime beef burger, steak of the day, slow-cooked lamb shank, British coastal fish of the day, full rack of pork ribs and stone baked pizzas as well as a range of gluten free and vegetarian options, and roast dinners on a Sunday.

There is also a range of lighter bites such as ciabattas and wraps for those looking for a quick bite.

And those with a sweet tooth can indulge in homemade ice creams and sorbets as well as British classics such as sticky date and stout pudding and lemon curd cheesecake.

To celebrate the pub’s reopening, the team are offering customers 25 per cent of their food bill until October 6 if they sign up to The Fox Inn's newsletter by visiting atthefoxinn.pub or its Facebook page The Fox Boars Hill.
