OXFORD United stars were on hand yesterday to unveil a new state-of-the-art 3G pitch that will be used by hundreds of youngsters across the city.
The Oxford Academy worked alongside Oxfordshire FA to secure a grant of £579,201 from the Premier League & The FA Facilities Fund, and the Football Foundation, to make the new pitch possible
Yellows players Jon Obika and Rob Hall watched on as a school tournament kicked off the pitch’s use and then officially unveiled it afterwards.
Matthew Brandish, community operations manager at the school, said: “We have struggled to accommodate local sports clubs for their training and fixtures in recent years.
“This new facility will enable us to provide a state-of-the-art football pitch, along with our current facilities to local community clubs.”
