AN IMPORTED Swiss chalet originally used as a hunting lodge is being upgraded to become a scientific research centre.
Oxford University is renovating the ageing building in Wytham Woods for its students and researchers to use as a base.
The University, which owns the ancient native woodland, uses it to study ecology, botany and zoology. It has submitted its full plans to Vale of White Horse District Council for approval, saying the chalet is primarily visited the departments of Zoology and Geography and the rooms are used for 'storage, the processing of small mammals, bird ringing and freezer storage of samples'.
