OXFORD Brookes University will host its 10th annual ‘Science Bazaar’ celebrating all things science.

The family event offers hands-on workshops and events for a wide range of ages including the use of ‘augmented reality’ and a chance to learn surgical skills from the university's medical team.

At the event there will also be a ‘build a bug’ workshop encouraging participants to create their own microbes and an opportunity to look through the eyes of a modern paramedic and practice basic life support skills.

Other activities will include the chance to try out surgical skills with the university's operating department practice team.

The Oxford Brookes Racing 2014 car will also be available for aspiring racing drivers to test on different tracks in a bid to set the fastest lap.

An Oxford Brookes spokesperson said: “Enjoy a fun-filled day with new hands-on activities and old favourites, and meet our staff and students.

“Fancy dress is encouraged.”

The Science Bazaar will take place on Saturday between 10.30am and 4pm.

It is free and open to all and is recommended for children aged between 5 and 12.

The event will be held at the John Henry Brookes Building at the Headington campus.
