DISCO legend Nile Rodgers and British pop-rock act Bastille are among the first big names to have been announced for this year's Wilderness festival.

Nile Rodgers and his band Chic, famous for such dancefloor classics as Le Freak, GoodTimes and Everybody Dance, will be headlining the quirky festival which returns to Cornbury Park, near Chipping Norton for its eighth year.

The American star will be a familiar sight in Oxfordshire this summer. The 65-year-old has also been confirmed to play the Nocturne concert series ar Blenheim Palace and Henley Festival.

Pop act Bastille, best known for top 10 hits Pompeii and Of the Night, and electronic artist Jon Hopkins will also grace the bill at the event, which runs from August 2-5.

Further down the bill are progressive American jazz saxophonist, Kamasi Washington, famed for his improvisational style fusing jazz with hip hop, classical and R&B. Also appearing is Baxter Dury, son of Rhythm Stick singer Ian Dury, who will perform songs from his album Price Of Tears.

There will be dancier offerings from Chk Chk Chk will add another party dimension with their mix of dance, percussive and punk sounds; urban jazz from 21-year-old IAMDDB, soul and R&B from Joy Crookes and rich vocals from Mahalia.

Dance act Groove Armada will headline The Valley - a wooded ravine reserved for late night parties and revelry, alongside South Korean DJ Peggy Gou.

Organisers promise "world class music and dance" in The Atrium, with performances from Sadler’s Wells and Ronnie Scott’s, and, in a pair of festival firsts, The Pee Wee Ellis Funk Assembly and five-piece African band Afriquoi, who blend Gambian kora, Congolese guitar and Mandinka percussion with electronic music.

Following previous performances of the music of Radiohead and John Williams, the ​Wilderness Orchestra this year present ‘God’s Jukebox’ which will see audience members apply to have their favourite songs performed by the orchestra and personally dedicated to them.

Further names are yet to be announced.

As always with Wilderness Festival there will be much more on offer than just music.

The popular 'Banquets & Feasting' section of the festival will return with a wood-fire banquet on the opening night and many more long-table feasts planned over the weekend.

New chefs will include Santiago Lastra, Sam Buckley and James Lowe who will cook up a storm at The Chefs Table, overlooking the lake.

There will be Middle Eastern fare from Yotam Ottolenghi, who hosts a Sunday Long-Table Banquet, while Angela Hartnett brings her Café Murano to the show for a second time,

There will also be cabaret, comedy and variety as well as open air theatre and workshops demonstrating skills, such as life drawing, weaving, wielding and carpentry. Revellers can even try stone-carving or crayfish trapping.

Following the success of last year's Letters Live events - which saw the likes of Benedict Cumberbatch, Russell Brand and Tom Hollander addressing the crowd, a further top-secret line-up has been promised, which organisers insist is "guaranteed not to disappoint".
