CHANGES will be made to a planned huge new motorway service station off the M40 in an attempt to satisfy concerns about its impact on traffic.

Developer Euro Garages has had to rethink its plan to build a petrol station, 80 bed hotel, offices and a warehouse at Junction 11, near Banbury, because of objections raised by Oxfordshire County Council.

The council's planners fear the scheme could have a 'severe' impact on traffic at the roundabout.

Residents are also worried the traffic problems could affect shops and companies in the area.

In an attempt to gain planning permission for the development, Euro Garages is proposing to make changes to landscaping and layout as well as alterations to the highways.

Tom Jeremiah, Planning Director at EG Group, said: “During discussions with planning officers at Cherwell Council and other stakeholders, it became clear that we could make a number of improvements to the scheme to ensure that we could deliver this fantastic site and the best possible development for Banbury."

He added that in the coming weeks the organisation will be 'working closely' with the council to finalise the proposed changes and respond to feedback received.
