OXFORDSHIRE residents woke up to a 'lorry load' of rubbish outside their home after fly tippers struck a quiet rural road.

Local resident Martyn Clarke told Oxford Mail that the haul of junk was first spotted early this morning on a country lane just outside Bampton.

He said that the waste strewn on the road had completely blocked his home making it impossible for emergency services to get through.

He said: "Last night, someone carelessly dumped a lorry load of rubble in our secluded country lane just outside Bampton.

"There are two families who live at the end of the lane and the thoughtless tipper blocked the lane completely.

"However, they did leave behind some incriminating evidence, their cap, empty cigarette packets and stubs.

"Whoever left their waste in our lane had no thought whatsoever for the two families living there.

"If there had been an emergency in the night, emergency services could not get to the houses, neither could the families get out."

He added that the clean-up operation took two hours this morning where the rubbish was moved to the verge.

Oxfordshire County Council have been contacted for comment.
