A 25-YEAR-old woman was attacked while walking on Headington Hill in the early hours of this morning.
Police said the victim suffered a broken nose and facial injuries after she was assaulted by a man at 1am.
The incident happened on the footpath near the bridge.
A description of the offender has been released and he is said to be black, in his mid-twenties and slim. He was wearing a grey tracksuit.
Investigating officer PC Christopher Tack, based at St Aldates Police Station, said: "This was an unprovoked assault which resulted in the victim requiring medical treatment."
