TRAINSPOTTERS basked in the summer sun as they awaited the arrival of a legend at Oxford Railway Station.
The smell of smoke and nostalgic sounds of a steam train came trundling along yesterday as the Cathedral Express chugged through the Oxfordshire countryside.
It passed through the county, hauled by the Black Five Steam Locomotive45212, on route from London Victoria to Worcester.
It was part of the Cathedrals Express Steam Trips taking passengers out for the day to both Cheltenham and Worcester.
The locomotive rolled in to Oxford Railway Station slightly before 1pm where it stopped for a quick four-minute break having come previously from Didcot.
It then headed back off on its journey towards Oxford Parkway Railway Station, then Wolvercote and eventually Worcester Shrub Hill.
On its return journey it bypassed Oxford and stopped off at Didcot Parkway before heading on to Reading, Ascot, Egham and London Victoria where it reached the end of the line.
