POLICE officers, firefighters and paramedics have descended on a Jewish centre in Oxford following an 'anti-Semitic incident', say reports.
It is understood that 'talcum powder' was flung at some bins outside of the Chabad Student Centre in Cowley Road this afternoon.
A woman at the centre told the Oxford Mail that an offensive note was also left by the offenders.
Initial reports suggested that police had discovered a suspicious substance.
While the force has confirmed that it closed the road, it would not provide further details about what happened.
A spokesman would not confirm the reports, simply saying the incident was being led by the fire service.
South Central Ambulance Service also responded to the incident.
A spokesman said: "We were notified by Thames Valley Fire Control at 3.30pm about a potential ‘white powder’ incident on some bins outside the centre.
"We had an ambulance on standby near to the scene but turns out it was talcum powder."
