CHILDREN at Kidlington Playschool celebrated their recent 'good' Ofsted report with a visit from some cuddly farmyard animals on Wednesday.

The playschool, which celebrated its 60th anniversary last year, enjoyed the company of several furry friends after receiving an improved rating earlier this month.

After the playschool was told it 'required improvement' in its last investigation, Ian Jackson, director of Magpies Kidlington which runs childcare for under-fives in the area, said the new rating was certainly merited.

He said: "It's a small village playschool and it's a part of village life.

"The staff have put in a huge amount of work to really get it humming and that's reflected by the Ofsted report.

"Huge congratulations to manager Vicki Court and deputy manager Jess Middleton, they've done an amazing job."

The playschool is unusual in taking children from the age of two and advertises itself as suitable for more timid youngsters.

Mr Jackson added: "The visit was a happy coincidence, but they all took advantage - children and animals have a natural bond."
