WEST Oxford was a hive of activity this weekend with the return of the city's annual bee festival.

Visitors to St Frideswide Church on Botley Road were able to celebrates all things bee-related with activities, games and food and drink on offer on Saturday.

Candle making, honey tasting and demonstrations on how to ‘bee’ friendly were all on the programme at the festival which ran throughout the afternoon.

Organisers use the yearly event to teach locals how to conserve bees, which they say provide us with a third of our food.

Youngsters were also able to enter an under-12s art competition.

According to Friends of the Earth, nearly nearly one in 10 of Europe’s wild bee species are currently facing extinction.
