A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of kidnap after a woman was chased and beaten in the street before being bundled into a car.

Police were called to Woodstock Road in Yarnton, near the Turnpike pub, shortly after 1pm last Thursday.

They had been told a man chased a woman who had fled from a car they were both travelling in.

When he caught her he punched her several times when she was on the ground, leaving blood on her face.

He then forced her back into his car, a grey Nissan X-Trail, which took off in the direction of Kidlington.

It is believed that the victim was known to the offender.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm, affray and kidnap. He has been released under investigation.
