THE roaring sound of classic motors starting up and chugging along Oxfordshire’s roads wowed onlookers as scores of classic cars set off on a run from Bicester Heritage.

The former RAF base turned historic vehicle and aviation hub was the backdrop to the All-Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group car run.

Banbury MP Victoria Prentis was on hand with a large union jack flag to wave start the run and wave off the fellow politicians who headed off to the Houses of Parliament in London.

She said: ““It was good to welcome the All Party Parliamentary Historic Vehicles Group to my constituency for their third visit. It was a glorious day and there were some fabulous cars taking part.”

The run was staged by the group and supported by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.

The group is made up of MPs across the main UK parties and was set up to promote and support the continued use of historic and classic motor vehicles in the UK.

The classic car run from Bicester Heritage yesterday also saw MPs taken on a tour of the former World War Two Bomber Station plus lunch before heading off in convoy all the way to London.
