A THUG walking down the street with a baby brutally attacked a man after hurling racist abuse.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was walking on the footpath through Bury Knowle Park, Headington, on Saturday.

He was then confronted by a man and woman pushing a baby in a buggy in the opposite direction at around 7pm. 

The man racially abused the victim before swinging three punches into his head, knocking him to the ground. 

The victim was left with a broken nose and possible fractured cheek bone. He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment and later discharged.

The offender is a white man, aged in his late thirties to mid-forties, about 5ft 9ins tall and with a stocky build. He had very short hair and was wearing a white t-shirt and sunglasses.

The woman is white, about 5ft 3ins tall, aged in her late thirties to mid-forties and with a stocky build. She was wearing a green dress and had a tattoo of a Chinese style dragon on her calf.

Investigating officer Sergeant Christopher Ball based at Cowley Police Station said: "This was an unprovoked assault on a man who has been left shaken and sustained serious injuries to his face.

"I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this assault or who may have seen people matching the description in the area at the time of the incident to come forward."
