THE 'Oxlympics' sporting challenge for local businesses has been won by Oxford Bus Company.
Oxfordshire High Sheriff Richard Venables devised the event to encourage local workforces to improve their health and wellbeing.
The series of events, involving more than 20 Oxfordshire firms, included a Parkrun, Oxford Town and Gown 10k and a seven-a-side hockey festival - over several months.
Other companies involved included Carter Jonas, Savills, Richardsons Accountants and Polar Technologies
The grand finale took place at Abingdon School with teams of six taking on more challenges including a swimming gala.
Companies also raised money for charity through the challenges, with Oxford Bus Company contributing towards £135,000 overall donated for treatments for muscle-wasting conditions.
Oxford Bus Company managing director, Phil Southall, said: "The High Sheriff's Sporting Challenge has been a fantastic experience for everyone who took part.
"It really has brought colleagues together and encouraged us all to lead more active and healthy lifestyles, which can only be a good thing."
Mr Venables said: "It has been amazing to see all the corporate challengers throw themselves into these events with some great stories of team building and individuals engaging in sport.
"This event has raised more than £150,000 which will be distributed to a number of Oxfordshire youth-based charities."
