THE stage is set for a group of talented young dancers from Blackbird Leys who are ready to wow the world with their latest moves.

Four pupils of the K-C Dance School have qualified to represent the UK at the upcoming International Dance Organisation's hip-hop, break dance and electric boogie championships in the Polish city of Kielce.

It represents the latest success for the Leys Pools and Leisure Centre-based school which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

Previously sending dancers to compete around the world, the school has provided the spring-board for dozens of professional careers in TV and stage dancing.

The latest cohort heading to Poland includes Tyler Pringle, 8, Evonne Mburu, 11, Remiel Francis, 6, and Marshall Meade, 9.

For many of the youngsters, it will be the first time they leave the country to travel abroad.

Principal Kelly Collins said: "It's a fantastic opportunity for them and they will get to meet other dancers from all over the world.

"I've known people meet life-long friends at these competitions and that can help them in their dreams of becoming professionals.

"It is the Olympics of hip-hop and I have been really lucky to have participants there every year, I'm so proud of all of them."

She added: "It is about finding their confidence and allowing them to express themselves.

"I like to emphasise their individuality and teach them that it is ok to be themselves."

Remiel, who attends St Gregory the Great School, has been dancing since he was three and is already competing against children nearly twice his age.

Mother Justina Brown said: "He has always loved it - it makes him so happy.

"He wants to compete and win, we're so incredibly proud of him."

Tyler has also been dancing since a very young age and is hoping to add success at the world championships to a number of existing accolades.

His mother, Amy Pringle, said the John Henry Newman school-student had got so much out of dancing.

She added: "I have seen a real change in his confidence and self belief.

"They all support one another - it melts my heart when I see him congratulating other people.

"To represent your country at such a young age is a really fantastic achievement."
