A NUMBER of train services leaving Oxford railway station were cancelled on Monday morning after a person was hit by a train.
Services to London on Chiltern Railways were cancelled after a person was killed further down the line at High Wycombe.
It came as Oxford station re-opened its doors following a weekend closure and several weeks of disruption.
Earlier, trains to Reading were also cancelled, but that was not connected with the fatality.
Services returned to normal again by early afternoon.
Chiltern Railways, responding to a customer on Twitter, explained that somebody had been struck by a train, prompting delays and cancellations.
The person was hit at High Wycombe railway station and died at the scene.
British Transport Police (BTP) said they were called out at 8.14am to reports someone had been hit by a train.
Their next of kin are currently being contacted and the BTP said more details will be released in due course.
