A DEVELOPER already criticised for ‘abandoning’ Oxfordshire home owners with unfinished roads and public spaces is facing fresh complaints at a second estate.

Richard Boodell moved into one of the first completed houses at The Gables development in Steventon in September 2016.

Even though it has now been months since any workers were seen at the Miller Homes site, metal fences and poorly completed roads are continuing to blight the estate.

The 31-year-old, who works as an operations manager, said: “We were left without a finished road or pavement surface for over a year, this was a hazard to pedestrians and caused damage to numerous vehicles from having to turn up a steep kerb day in, day out.

“A couple of months ago some tarmac was put down, yet the main entrance remains unfinished, bumpy and still leaves a large drop for us to drive over to get to our parking.”

Mr Boodell, who lives in a property on the 57-home estate with girlfriend Victoria Shaw, added: “There is no sign of any further workers on site – minus the remaining railings that are still up.

“Miller ignore our continuous phone requests to get this sorted.”

It comes after Anthony Coates, 36, last month shared his frustration from trying to get Miller Homes to fix the ‘dangerous’ state of public spaces at Walnut Meadow in Drayton, claiming there had been a trail of broken promises from the developer.

Mr Coates moved into the property in June last year but said he was beset with problems from the start, from drainage issues to an uneven garden.

The new father said he had been ‘sold a dream’ in the brochure for the 70-house village estate, which is twinned with the one in Steventon. At the time a spokesperson for Miller Homes said the company was aware of work to be completed and that this work, including on a play area, was scheduled to take place ‘in the coming weeks’.

They added the developer was working with their contractor to ‘develop a programme’ going forward.

On the latest complaints, a spokesperson said: “We are aware that there is work still to be completed in public areas of our development The Gables in Steventon.

“We have instructed a landscaper to install the missing fencing to the swale and we are working with our management company JLES, to ensure all maintenance work is complete.”

They added: “In regards to our Walnut Meadow development in Drayton, work is progressing as planned in the public areas and is set to be completed in due course.”

The developer also has properties for sale in Oxfordshire at Bradbery Gardens in Didcot and Winterbrook Park in Wallingford, as well as Weaver Fields and Woodlands in Bloxham.
