An arsonist set fire to a chest of drawers in the lobby of a block of flats.
Firefighters were called to Luther Court in Oxford city centre at 11.15pm last night and managed to extinguish the flames before they spread to properties.
A spokesman for the fire and rescue service confirmed that the incident was being treated as arson.
In a separate incident, firefighters were called to Stoke Place, Headington, at 3.20am today to tackle a car fire. Arson is also suspected and police have been informed.
Yesterday afternoon a fire crew was called to Rose Hill Nature Reserve to extinguish a motorcycle on fire.
Firefighters from Slade took about ten minutes to put out the fire on land next to Rivermead Road at 3.45pm.
