Three thousand cartons of honey and lemon will make a sweet opening to Wallingford’s Medieval Night tomorrow (Thursday) when mayor Alec Hayton will switch on the Christmas tree lights to start off the Christmas shopping spree.
The sachets are being given away free by local firm Rowse Honey to visitors and each carton has six sachets of pure honey with lemon juice.
Stuart Bailey, chairman of Rowse Honey, pictured right, said: “People will find they are delicious added to warm water to make a soothing drink and should help keep Wallingford healthy through the winter.”
The event will have street entertainment, food stalls, charity stalls and shops staying open late.
Mr Hayton will switch on the lights at 6pm and then the streets will be filled with jugglers, a Punch and Judy Show, stilt walkers and other entertainment.
The roads in the town centre will be closed to traffic to allow people to move freely and safely between shops, stalls and the Regal Centre.
