A take-away worker had a gun put to her head during the latest armed robbery in Oxfordshire — the eighth in as many days.

A masked teenager marched into Tasty House in Cinnaminta Road, Headington, at 10.30pm on Wednesday brandishing a handgun and demanding cash.

The gunman was foiled by staff and fled empty-handed.

Last night, detectives said the attempted robbery was not thought to be linked to any others and could have been a “copycat” raid.

A female member of staff, who asked not to be named, said: “He put the gun to my head and shouted ‘quick, quick, quick’ and ‘give me money’, ‘give me money’. I just screamed.

“I looked up and thought the gun wasn’t real, so I got the money out of the till and took it out the back into the kitchen.”

Manager Suk Ying, 55, said: “I was scared, he had a gun. It happened very quickly.

“The man was very young and we were screaming. I was worried he would climb over the counter and picked up my handbag so he couldn’t get any money.”

He escaped without stealing any cash and is believed to be connected to a group of teenagers seen near the take-away at the time.

The would-be robber was described as in his late teens or early 20s, of slim build, about 5ft 10in tall and was wearing a bark blue balaclava.

There have been eight armed robberies in the county since Wednesday last week.

Five of them — robberies on two buses, a taxi driver, bookmakers and a motorist in a supermarket car park — are believed to linked.

Yesterday, two men and a woman appeared in court accused of carrying out an armed robbery on a post office in Bicester on Tuesday.

Detectives are also hunting two gunmen who stole from a petrol station in Thame last Friday.

Det Insp Simon Morton, who is leading the investigation, said he was worried about the large number of armed raids and a team of detectives was working to hunt down the robbers.

He said the takeaway robbery is unlikely to be linked to the others because it was less threatening and no violence was used.

He said: “It’s rare to have a robbery like this in Oxford — let alone a series. It’s highly unusual to have this many offences in such a short space of time.

“We are looking into the possibility the latest robbery at Tasty House could be a copycat robbery.

“The robberies have been highlighted in the media and unfortunately there are people out there who could be influenced to commit crime of this nature.”

Anyone with information on any of the robberies should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
