Rowing used to regarded as mainly a summer sport, but not any more.
Events are on offer throughout the year. January provides a slight lull before the storm.
Next month, clubs, colleges and schools will be found at the Henley Fours Head (February 7) and the Henley Junior Head (February 14).
The Bedford Head (February 15) and the Reading Head (February 28) will attract Oxford-based crews.
College crews are unlikely to be present since the Torpids on the Isis are scheduled for the same week from February 25-28.
March sees the ‘big ones’ with three major events on the Mortlake-to-Putney stretch.
They are Women’s Head (7th March 7) the Schools’ Head (March 10) and the Men’s Head (March 21).
For the hard-working Oxford University crews, the Henley Boat Races for women and lightweights will be on March 22 with the main Boat Race is on March 29.
