ON Saturday,July 11, residents can air concerns and quiz housebuilders on plans for new homes west of Wallingford.
People living in Wallingford and Brightwell-cum-Sotwell are being invited to a Community Planning Day to discuss proposals for the land known locally as Slade End Farm.
Prupim, the development arm of The Prudential, wants to build homes on the site south of Wantage Road and east of Bosley Way.
South Oxfordshire District Council has earmarked the farmland, together with land at Winterbrook, as its two preferred options for development of 850 homes in its long-term plan for the district.
Slade End Farm falls inside the Wallingford bypass, but in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell parish.
Last week, at a Wallingford Town Council meeting, representatives from Prupim said they did not know how many homes would be built on the site.
However, in December last year, a Prupim spokesman said the site could accommodate 1,000 houses.
The public consultation on Saturday, at Wallingford Methodist church hall, in St Leonard’s Square, will run from 11am to 4pm.
Prupim representatives will take feedback from residents and there will be a chance to take part in workshops to discuss site options.
A Prupim spokesman said it had appointed architects John Thompson and Partners to work with residents to create a vision for the land and its relationship with surrounding neighbourhoods and Wallingford.
John Clark, associate director of development, said: “The proposed site is the appropriate location for the sustainable extension of Wallingford, providing new homes, community facilities and public open space.
“The Community Planning Day will be the first stage of an ongoing consultation with the community.”
