Sobell House strollers aim to raise £100,000

THE third Sobell House hospice Moonlight Stroll through Oxford takes place on Saturday night.

A record 1,150 people have signed up to take part in the eight-mile walk through the city, many of whom have personal experience of the hospice’s work.

Sobell House, which is based at the Churchill Hospital, costs £3.2m a year to run.

Fundraiser Kevin Game said stroll organisers hoped to top £100,000.

He added: “We originally wanted to get 1,000 walkers, then we raised it to 1,100 and we were still getting people phoning up pleading for places so we extended it.

The staggered walk — which is fully booked — starts and ends at St Edward’s School in Woodstock Road at 10.30pm. The last finishers are due to cross the line at 2am.
