CYCLISTS are being recruited to take part in an African adventure to raise funds for orphans in Kenya.
The Cycle Kenya 2009 Challenge in November is a five-day 400-kilometre bike ride from Nairobi to the village of Ngoingwa via valleys, safari parks and tribal villages, under the shadow of Mount Kenya.
Cyclists will also be offered the option to tour Nairobi National Park, home to giraffes, monkeys, rhinos and antelopes.
Fundraiser Liz Eaton, from Warborough, was one of several people from Oxfordshire who helped raise £80,000 to build the Ngoingwa Centre for Good Future, which provides round-the-clock care for 120 girls and medical aid to people living in the village.
She said: “We need some enthusiastic cyclists to come on board and help us raise more funds while exploring this fascinating country.”
Cyclists must be a normal level of fitness and must pay a £250 deposit and raise £2,500. Under 18s must be accompanied.
