Police are appealing for information after a woman was injured in an attack as she cycled along the towpath near to the Woodstock Road, Oxford.

At about 8.50pm on Tuesday, the 52-year-old woman was on the towpath between Plantation Road and St Margaret’s Road, when she heard some voices and laughter behind her. She felt something pull her from behind and fell off her cycle.

The woman suffered cuts and bruises and was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment.

PC Ian Winter said: “The woman has been left shaken and distressed by this incident. We are in the early stages of our investigation and are unsure what exactly has happened.

“I urge anyone who might have seen the woman, or have any information to help with the investigation, to get in touch.”
