A MAN who picked up a schoolboy for sex in an Oxford park has been jailed.

Kuganeswaran Annamalay, 23, approached his 15-year-old victim in Cutteslowe Park, North Oxford, on September 11 and asked if he was interested in gay sex, prosecutor Rachel Drake told Oxford Crown Court.

In a statement, the teenager said he did not know Annamalay, of Priors Forge, North Oxford, but had seen him “watching him” in the park before.

Miss Drake said: “There was some chit chat, which involved the defendant asking his age. He confirmed he was 15 and the defendant asked if he was interested in gay sex. In interview the boy gave a response of ‘not really’.

“The two of them ended up in an obscure bushy area.”

Miss Drake said the pair engaged in a number of sex acts.

The boy’s mother contacted police after noticing a lovebite on his neck.

Annamalay, who is Malaysian and came to Oxford on a six-month visa in June, admitted two counts of sexual activity with a child.

Judge Patrick Eccles jailed him for two years on the basis that it was consensual sex, adding: “The law is there to protect youngsters from sexual exploitation from older men.”
