Thieves target classic Oxford 'Moggie'

A CAR collector said he was “heartbroken” after his classic vehicle was targeted by thieves.

Computer technician Raphael Merni, pictured, is desperate to reunite his 1962 vintage Morris Minor with its stolen headlight.

The car is covered in dozens of stickers advertising Mr Merni’s computer repair company Computer Assistance. Mr Merni, 44, of Cowley Road. said: “I think it’s terrible someone would do something so dastardly and conniving, especially just before Christmas.

“It’s a unique car and now it looks as if someone has punched it in the eye.”

The theft happened at the firm’s Cowley Road car park sometime between December 11 and 14.

Mr Merni was given the car 12 years ago by a former girlfriend’s mother.

The car is worth about £1,000 and the headlight about £50.

Anyone with information should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

It might be a classic; but it's also an eyesore! He's had it 12 years but looks like he's never lifted a finger to restore it.

With the holes around the headlight mounting i suspect it simply fell out rather than someone nicking it, time for old rubbish like this to be scrapped, not even good enough for banger racing.

Nice bit of free advertising.

Hardly a news story. 'Headlight missing from old car'.

Much better the headlight is now working on a car, rather than sat outside his shop rotting away. P.S. £50 to replace, that's 10 minutes profit gone for him. P.P.S. Now he has advertised it, expect all Moggie owners to pass by for a few spares.
