A Wantage youth club which last month unveiled plans to breathalyse children will hold a public meeting to decide its future.
Tonight’s meeting will discuss how Sweatbox, held in King Alfred’s Community and Sports College, Springfield Road, will move forward after the county council said the breath tests were against its youth policy.
Louise Chapman, county council cabinet member for children, young people and families, will chair the meeting in the main hall of the school’s east site at 6.30pm.
The centre will continue to run a drop-in centre on a Friday evening at a time to be agreed.

RICHYRICH09, WANTAGE says...

Here we have someone giving up there free time to provide activities for the youngsters of Wantage and the local areas.
By what I can understand all he wanted to do was ensure the safety of the law abiding majority by implementing a breathalyser.
Many of the parents support this course of action as reported in previous reported articles. SO WHAT IS THE PROBLEM !!
Unfortunately we now live under the control of a “ Nanny State”. The County Council should be supporting this initiative rather than opposing it.
Maybe if the County Council tackled anti sociable behaviour with the same zest that they have applied here then maybe we would live in a better environment.
