FORMER pupils of Witney’s Wood Green School are getting together again – 20 years after they went their separate ways.

On Saturday, September 4, Christina Wilson and fellow past pupils are organising a 1990-style get-together.

She inviting everyone from the class of 1990 to bring along their photos and memories to the event, at Witney Rugby Club, in Hailey Road.

From 7.30pm to midnight, there will be a disco, featuring hits from the 90s, and the chance to catch up.

Mrs Wilson, nee Warwick, of Leafield, said: “I was on Facebook and it just occurred to me that it had been 20 years since we left school, so I emailed everybody, who also said that they didn’t realise it had been so long.

“We suggested a reunion and I thought there was no reason why I shouldn’t organise one myself.”

There will also be an update wall and book, where people who cannot attend the event can send in photographs and details about what they are doing now.

Past pupils will be travelling from as far afield as the Netherlands, Manchester and Wales to the event.

Mrs Wilson, 36, has already been in touch with 80 of the 140-strong year group and wants to trace as many more as she can before next month’s event.

The mother-of-two, who is an accountant, said: “It’s nice to find out how everybody has turned out, certainly when you look over the old photograph it’s nostalgic and you think it would be really nice to get together again.

“We will make it a really nostalgic evening.

“I have asked everyone to provide photographs from when they were at school.”

She added: “It’s important to have memories and I think it’s even more so when you’re talking about something like school.

“You have a picture of what school was like in your head and what you were like in your head.

“It’s not until you see someone who you haven’t spoken to in years and they have completely different memories and it’s important to flesh it all out.”

“I moved out of the area and lost contact with people, so it will be really nice to see everyone again.

“A lot of people say to me ‘no-one will remember who I am’, but I don’t think that’s true.

“Everybody remembers almost everybody. It will be really nice to get the whole class back together.”

l Tickets, which cost £15 and include a disco and buffet, are available from Mrs Wilson. For more information, call her on 01993 878827 or email cpjw1@hotmail.co.uk
