A SPECIAL climbing wall was put up in Oxford’s Gloucester Green yesterday to give kids a birds’ eye view of the city, while drumming workshops helped them get into the holiday spirit.
For the past week, thousands of youngsters across the county have been enjoying the summer by discovering nature reserves, building scrap models, decorating pavements – and, like Tegen Carveth, four, pictured, building towers out of wooden blocks. Tegen was among those gathered for a session in Gloucester Green, yesterday.
The sessions were all part of Play Day 2010, an initiative to get children to explore the great outdoors.
The free events, in Oxford, Banbury and Thame, were organised by Oxfordshire Play Partnership and supported by the county council.
Gavin Barber, from the county council, said: “It has been fantastic”.
