Police officers are at the scene of a double fatal crash on the A34 at Chieveley.

The collision, between a white van and a black Audi, happened at about 7.30am today, in a lay-by off the southbound carriageway, about three-quarters of a mile before the Chieveley turn-off.

Police said the southbound carriageway of the A34 had been closed at the Beedon junction and was likely to remain closed most of this morning while enquiries are carried out. Diversions are in place.
