A woman pedestrian died on the A420 between Oxford and Swindon today after she was struck by a lorry near Faringdon.

The A420 was closed between the Fernham Road junction and the A417 Park Road junction following the crash at 7.20am near the Little Coxwell turn and traffic is tailing back in both directions.

David Staines, a spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said: “An elderly woman has died at the scene after she was struck by the HGV lorry at the A420 junction with Little Coxwell Road.

“We are appealing for witnesses to the accident to telephone police on 08458 505505.

“The road closure is still in place so drivers should try to find other routes if possible.”

Mr Staines said emergency services were still at the scene and added that no one had been arrested.
