Sir – Stephen Goldby (Letters, August 26) is absolutely right.
I should not have been resting my hand on the Ram of Amun and certainly would not wish to encourage others to do so.
Sculpture can indeed be damaged by touching and we do have a ‘no-touch’ policy. Mea Culpa!
