Police are appealing for information after a collision near Faringdon in which a man was killed.
The incident happened at about 8.20pm last night on the A420 near to Faringdon, when an HGV was in a collision with a 39-year-old man from the Faringdon area.
An off-duty police officer was the first person on the scene who, along with the driver of the HGV, gave the pedestrian first aid.
The man was transferred by paramedics to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon, but died shortly after arriving at hospital.
The driver of the HGV, who was uninjured in the collision, is helping police with enquiries.
No arrests have been made in connection with this incident at this time.
The A420 was closed for four hours while officers carried out an investigation at the scene, and local diversions were put in place.
PC Gavin Newman, from Abingdon Roads Policing, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who was driving along the A420 yesterday evening around the time of the incident.
“Perhaps you saw the events that led to the collision between the man and the HGV? Or maybe you saw the man prior to the incident?”
