Court recorded automatically for first time

A NEW automated recording system was used for the first time at Oxford Crown Court yesterday.

The system replaces the traditional human ‘logger’ who would sit in court and operate a cassette system.

The Ministry of Justice is rolling out the automated system at all crown courts to save money. Recordings in court will now be saved to a computer hard-drive.

It's a shame they don't record all that goes on in the magistrates court too. Then if a case is then moved up to the Crown Court for the appeal, anyone who's story has now changed can be picked up on by comparing the two tapes. I speak from experience and it was a perjuring policeman who's story changed dramitically.
