SUPERMARKET giant Tesco paid more than £1m to purchase the old Friar pub in Marston, Oxford, which it plans to turn into a store.
But the proposed shop is now being threatened with a boycott because of concerns over other local stores, though Tesco says it will benefit from the additional footfall its shop would bring.
According to the title register, Tesco paid £1m, plus VAT, to buy the site in April 2008.
