OXFORD: More than £7,500 has been raised for Cowley meningitis victim Charlotte Nott and the charity SpecialEffect, thanks to Oxford United.
The team wore unique shirts emblazoned with “United 4 Charlotte” at the Rotherham game on Saturday, where Charlotte was the guest of honour.
An online auction to buy the shirts closed on Sunday. Together with money raised from a signed team shirt the total reaches over £6,000.
Midfielder Peter Leven also matched the £300 bid for his own shirt and £2,500 was donated by fans. Prime Minister and Witney MP David Cameron also helped the cause when he signed one of the special shirts, raising another £1,000.
