Murder probe launched after man stabbed to death in Rose Hill

A 29-YEAR-OLD man died after being stabbed in the chest in Oxford late last night.

An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is being questioned by detectives.

A police spokesman said officers were called to St Martin's Road in Rose Hill at about 11.25pm on Saturday by paramedics because a man had been stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital but was pronounced dead there.

He has not been named.

Detective Chief Inspector Joe Kidman, from the police's major crime department, said: “The investigation is at a very early stage and we are working to establish what has happened.

“I would like to appeal to anyone who may have been a witness in the area around this time, or who has information about who is responsible to call us.”

If anyone has any information, call Mr Kidman on the police number 101. Alternatively anyone who wishes to give information anonymously can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
