New recycling bins for unwanted clothes have been placed across the county to help a local charity.

Aspire, which runs businesses to create employment for disadvantaged people, has bought 10 purple containers with funding from Oxford City Council.

Last year the charity, which recycles donations, worked with 200 people in Oxfordshire and saved tons of clothes from going to landfill.

Jane Harris from Aspire said: “We are so excited about these new bins and what it’s going to mean for everyone at Aspire.”

The bins can be found at Co-op stores in Chipping Norton, Kidlington, Grove and Long Hanborough and at Dalton Barracks, Monument Park in Chalgrove, Siemens in Eynsham, Unipart in Cowley and St Hilda’s college, Oxford.

Volunteer Kevin Cooper, pictured, said: “The new recycling banks will help us pump money back into the charity."
