VISITORS to Oxford’s Ashmolean Museum were able to find out about plans for the county’s new military museum at an event on Saturday.
Members of the Soldiers of Oxfordshire Trust (SOFO) were on hand to talk about the £3m museum, to be built in the grounds of the Oxfordshire Museum, in Woodstock, which is due to open next year.
And some of the items forming the collection were on show, including the goggles sported by Ben Ferguson, six, pictured, with SOFO volunteer Phil Sharman And six-year-old Alex Porfyrakis was able try on a First World War soldier’s helmet, helped by Army cadet Corporal Jordan Robinson.
He said: “I really enjoyed the show about the soldiers.
“I got to make a clay model of a Samurai soldier out of clay and took it home.”
