CHARITY MATTERS: Seascape artwork and indie rock acts

A CUTTING-edge art installation will be the venue for a showcase of the best of Oxford’s music scene tomorrow.
Indie-rockers The Scholars and Half Rabbits, Phil McMinn – former frontman of pop acts Fell City Girl and Winchell Riots – Deco Child and singer-songwriter Richard Walters will perform as part of East Oxford artist Sarah Mayhew’s show at the Old Boot Factory, in St Mary’s Road, East Oxford.
The show is being staged by Audioscope, which raises money for homeless charity Shelter, with the Launch Collaborative, which works to show art in unusual exhibition spaces.
Miss Mayhew’s work, titled The Natural Course of Things, is a multi-media installation featuring film footage of the sea, projected onto overlapping sheets, set among nautical buoys. It is part of Oxfordshire Artweeks.
She said: “The show will form part of an immersive installation exploring the psychology of space through subconscious languages and landmarks.”
The first band starts at 7pm. Tickets are £5 from wegottickets.com. Oxfordshire Artweeks’ sponsor, Zip Cars, will provide lifts home to some ticket holders. The Natural Course of Things is on show until Sunday.
