POET Geoffrey Hill was knighted yesterday by the Princess Royal for his services to literature.
The 79-year-old is Professor of Poetry at Oxford University and went to Buckingham Palace to pick up his honour.
He was given a knighthood in this year’s New Year’s Honours List.
