What the story doesn't say is that they were cruising along in a lorry (unmarked) that allowed them to look into your car. So drivers be aware of lorries that seem intent on staying with you, because they are probably plod. How low are they going to sink to get a few extra £80 tickets.
What exactly is a 'distracted driving offence?'
Is this new police speak?

Don't talk sihte McVey. What part of using a mobile while driving can't be proved? People using a phone while driving are bl**dy idiots, as are those who defend them.

Driving while doing any of the activities outlined by Davyboy is potentially lethal, and needs stamping out. THe law is very clear: you have to be fully concentrating on the road ahead and your speed. If you are not, you are breaking the law.

None of those prosecuted for this NEW LAW caused a problem. But if we are going the Zero tolerance way, I want all cyclos nicked for red lights, cornmarket/queen st, mobile phones and all the other illegal activities they indulge in during their little jolly on the road. It wouldn't be 80 odd in a day but thousands, that is where the money is.

This is just one of the advantages of being able to play the frail old man.
Didn't see any bad cyclists today. But the car drivers were significantly worse than usual, and pedestrians were ridiculous.
